Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) must be distinguished from other conditions that can cause similar signs and symptoms, including:

• Hairy cell leukemia
• Mantle cell leukemia
• B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia
• Leukemic phase of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
• T-cell chronic lymphoproliferative disorders
