Nutritional and Lifestyle Interventions for Diabetes

Foot Care

Careful attention to foot care is critical in preventing injury, infection and other complications of diabetes. Feet should be washed and inspected daily. It may be necessary to use a mirror to see all areas of the foot, especially the bottom. Clean socks and sturdy, well-fitting shoes should be worn at all times. Never go barefoot! It is advisable to see a podiatrist of other foot care specialist regularly to prevent and detect any potential complications.
