Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer
Diagnostic Evaluation of Cervical Cancer
While sentinel node evaluation has been well established for some cancers (such as breast cancer), the use of sentinel node evaluation in cervical cancer is relatively new.
Lymphangiography is one method used to for the evaluation of lymph node metastases prior to treatment. This procedure is used to visualize the lymphatic system by injecting a dye that travels through the lymph nodes and lymph vessels, to assess for any blockages. This test helps find out whether cancer has spread to the lymph nodes.
