Laboratory Evaluation in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
The following additional laboratory studies are helpful in the diagnosis, staging, and later management of lung cancer:
- Sputum cytology - A sample of sputum (phlegm) is examined under the microscope to detect cancer cells. This test only identifies about 25% of lung cancer cases.
- Complete blood count
- Liver Function Tests (LFTs)
- Blood chemistries
- Platelet count
