Treatment Options for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Chemotherapy for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer in the Elderly
In the past, doctors were often reluctant to administer chemotherapy to elderly patients (over age 70) with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) because of concerns of side-effects and/or other underlying comorbid conditions. Currently, many oncologists believe that elderly age per se is not an absolute contraindication to chemotherapy and elderly patients with good performance status should be considered for platinum-based chemotherapy.
