Treatment Options for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
The treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) depends to a large extent on the stage (extent of spread) of the disease. Depending upon whether the cancer is early stage (Stages I and II), locally advanced stage (Stage III), or metastatic (Stage IV), the standard treatments as well as the treatment options will vary.
In general, the treatment options for non-small cell lung cancer include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Depending upon the extent of the disease, as determined by staging, these treatment modalities may be used either alone or in combination.
