Diagnosis of Small Cell Lung Cancer
Differential Diagnosis of Small Cell Lung Cancer
There are several conditions that may produce symptoms similar to those caused by lung cancer and which must be excluded before the diagnosis is determined. Some of these conditions include:
- Acute infections such as pneumonia or tuberculosis
- Benign (non-cancerous) neoplasms of the lung
- Fluid collection around the lung (pleural effusion) due to conditions other than lung cancer
