Differential Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia
A number of other conditions may produce signs and symptoms that overlap with fibromyalgia and must be considered in the differential diagnosis. These conditions include:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Polymyalgia rheumatica
- Hypothyroidism
- Cervical and low-back degenerative diseases
- Lyme disease
- Mononucleosis
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Anemia
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Sleep disorders
- Depression
- HIV infection
- Sjogren's syndrome
- Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Diabetes
