Goals of Treatment for Scleroderma

Currently, there is no known cure for localized scleroderma and systemic scleroderma. Early diagnosis, however, is important but is not always easy to achieve. There is no drug that has been proven to alter the course of scleroderma. Treatment of children and adults is similar.

The goals of treatment include:

• Relieve symptoms
• Improve impaired functioning
• Prevent and/or control long-term complications
